In the first week of the school holidays, Monday April 1st to Thursday April 4th, we will be running Holiday Bible Clubs for children age 6 -11. The events will be led by Claudine Uwizeye and will include games, craftwork, stories, singing and quizzes.

There will be two sessions

  1. 10 am – 12 noon at Seven Hills Primary School,  Appleby Way, Morley, Leeds LS27 8LA
  2. 2 pm – 4 pm at Newlands Methodist Chapel Hall, Albert Drive, Morley LS27 8SE

A mini-bus will pick-up at the China Orchid on Britannia Road at 9.40am and at the playing fields on Glen Road at 9.50am each day and return the children to these venues after the session.

We will be holding a series of 3 Bible Studies for Lent as joint meetings with Birstall Community Church and Gildersome Baptist Church.

  1. 7.30pm Wednesday 27 March at Gildersome
  2. 7.30pm Tuesday 2 April at Birstall
  3. 7.30pm Tuesday 9 April at Morley

The studies will be led by Leon Coates, Assistant Pastor at Dewsbury Evangelical Church.

The event will conclude with a Passover Meal together on Thursday 18 April at Gildersome Baptist Church.

Visitors are welcome at all events but if you wish to come to the Passover Meal please e-mail in advance to assist with catering.

On Friday 1st March we held a barn dance in St Mary’s in the Wood church hall, all profits went to Morley Camping Venture.

Jan 10

From 23 February to 3 March a team of 8 students from Capernwary College assisted us with an outreach programme. During the 10 days the students:

  • Ran a charity stall for Leeds City Mission in Queen Street along with a charity Shoe Shine and the distribution of Christian Literature to shoppers.
  • Led and spoke at our church services and also ran services at Birstall Community Church and Newlands Methodist Church.
  • Assisted us with normal church activities including Fountain Tots and YSix.
  • Delivered 16 performances of the Life of Christ Bible Exhibition at Seven Hill, Victoria, Churwell, Newlands,  Asquith, Gildersome, Queenswood and Birstall primary schools assisted by Allan Peel from the Open Air Mission.
  • Visited various Coffee Mornings around the town to talk to older people and delivered a Pensioners Lunch in the Labour Rooms. The team also led a Farewell Service and tea at Jubilee Court.
  • Picked up litter in the area around Hillycroft Fisheries
  • Delivered 1600 copies of the Good News Newspaper to homes in Morley.

The students visited on 26 & 27 January to plan the activities and were welcomed to the town by the Mayor & Mayoress.

We received 120 Christmas presents from various sources that were distributed to needy families in Morley, Armley and Bramley.

On Saturday 17 November we took part in the Tear Fund Big Quiz Night. This was a multi-venue quiz taking place at various locations around the UK.
