From 24 February to 4 March we ran an outreach week assisted by a team of students from Capernwray College. Heavy snow in the second half of the week severely affected the planned schedule  of activities including the cancellation of some Bible Exhibitions due to school closures and the cancellation of YSix, the Pensioners Lunch and tea at Jubilee Court. During the 10 days the students:

  • Ran a charity stall for Leeds City Mission in Queen Street along with a charity Shoe Shine and the distribution of Christian Literature to shoppers.
  • Led and spoke at our church services and also ran services at Birstall Community Church, Batley Pentecostal Church and Newlands Methodist Church.
  • Assisted with Fountain Tots.
  • Delivered 6 performances of the Amazing Journey Bible Exhibition at  Seven Hill, Newlands, St Francis and Queenswood  primary schools assisted by Allan Peel from the Open Air Mission.
  • Visited various Coffee Mornings around the town to talk to older people.
  • Delivered 1600 copies of the Day One Scripture Text Calendar to homes in Morley.

The students visited on 27 and 28 January for a planning session and were welcomed to the town by the Mayor

The Christmas Family Carol Evening was held at 5pm on Sunday 17 December 2017 followed by tea.

Over the Christmas period we held joint services with our friends at Birstall Community Church on 24, 25 and 31st December at their premises.

We have also distributed several hundred copies of the ‘Living Word’ picture calendar as a new year gift to older people living in the town. Many were given out in partnership with Morley Elderly Action at Christmas parties whilst regular attenders at the Town Hall Tuesday pensioners coffee morning were offered free copies as they chatted with friends around the tables. Other pensioners living in sheltered accommodation received their copy by direct delivery to their doors.
