From 25 February to 6 March a team of students from Capernwray College helped us run a range of outreach activities including:
- Giving out Christian literature in Morley Town Centre and the area surrounding the church.
- ‘Life of Christ’ Bible Exhibition in the local primary schools with the help of John Hawley from the Open Air Mission. Every child who attended was given a copy of the ‘Jesus Quest’ DVD.
- After School children’s club at Fountain Primary School.
- Visits to the various elderly people’s coffee mornings around the town and running a ‘Pensioners Lunch’.
- Running special events for the YZUP! youth club.
- The team also helped with services in our own church and at local Methodist Churches.
Our 2010 Harvest Service was held on Sunday 10 October in the Labour Rooms. The theme of the service was the harvest of tools and a collection of unwanted tools was made. These were sent to ‘Tools With A Mission’ (TWAM) for use in third world countries to allow people to become self sufficient at a trade. The Morley Elderly Action Craft Group knitted a large supply of blankets and jumpers, these will be used by TWAM to pack delicate tools on their overseas journey and then distributed to needy people in that country. The service was followed by a harvest supper.
On Saturday 25 September we held an Induction Service to acknowledge the appointment of Steve Wright as pastor of the church.
