Meetings in August

During August we will not be holding services at Fountain Primary School instead we will be joining with Birstall Community Church for joint services at their premises in Birstall. The morning services at Birstall start at the later time of 10.30am. The last service at FPS will be on Sunday 24 July and we will return on Sunday 5 September.

Prayer Morning

On Saturday 24 July we are planning a Prayer Morning. This will be split into three sessions, 7.30-9.00am, 9.30-11.00am, 11.30-1.00pm. Please come for one or more of the sessions. We will be praying for the needs of the church and the wider community.

Church Picnic

On Sunday 11 July we held a Church Picnic at Oakwell Hall Country Park.

New Pastor Appointed

On 23 May the Church Congregation voted unanimously to appoint Stephen Wright as pastor of the church. Steve can be contacted on 0113 253 5477.

Passover Meal

On Thursday 1 April members of the church celebrated a passover meal, replicating the events of the last supper and reflecting on their significance to us.

Ladies Bible Study

On Monday 15 March we launched a new Ladies Bible Study. The group will meet fortnightly on Monday nights starting at 7.30pm, all welcome. e-mail for details of the next meeting and the venue.

Lent Study Course

On Tuesday evenings in March we held a Lent Bible Study course in conjunction with Birstall Community Church and Morley Church of the Nazarene. The evenings started with a meal and a time of fellowship followed by a series of four studies led by Rev John Patten on the theme ‘A time of Discovery’. The topics were:

Tuesday 9 March, ‘Mixed Up or Blessed Up’
Tuesday 16 March, ‘One Way or No Way’
Tuesday 23 March, ‘Everything or Nothing

Capernwray Students 2010

A team of students from Capernwray College were with us from Friday 26 February to Sunday 7 March and we ran a programme of special activities in the town. This included:

John Hawley from the Open Air Mission helped us run the Pilgrim’s Progress Bible Exhibition in Fountain, Victoria, Seven Hills, Asquith and Queenswood Primary Schools.
The free distribution of nearly 2000 Day One Calendars on the streets of Morley.
Children’s After School Club at Fountain Primary School for ages 6 - 11.
A Pensioners Lunch hosted by the Mayor of Leeds, Councillor Judith Elliott, at the Labour Rooms.
Sunday evening Family Night in the Labour Room.
500 leaflets advertising the church posted through doors in the Fountain Street area.
The students also helped to run our church services and services at Gildersome and Newlands Methodist churches.

Mens Night

On Friday 29 January the men from the church went ten pin bowling followed by a meal at a chinese restaurant.

New Venue

From Sunday 6 December we will be meeting in the Community Room on the Fountain Primary School site. The Community Room is tucked away behind the Foundation Building. From the main school gates/ car park the Community Room is located over to the right between the superintendent’s bungalow and the Foundation Building.
