We ran a Christianity Explored course in September and October using the premises of PicPac Ltd, who are located near the BP Petrol Station on Victoria Road. The course explored the basis of the Christian faith with a simple format including a meal, DVD and discussion session.

We will be running further Christianity Explored Courses in 2012. f you would like to attend, or to find out more, please contact Steve Wright, on

steve@morleycommunitychurch.org.uk or telephone: 0113 253 5477.

You can also visit the Christianity Explored website for more information at: www.christianityexplored.org

What is Christianity Explored?

Christianity Explored is a popular course run up and down the country for people who’d like to investigate Christianity, or just brush up on the basics. It explores who Jesus was, what his aims were, and what it means to follow him.

You won’t be asked to pray, sing or read aloud, and you can ask any questions you like. Or, if you prefer, you can just come along and listen.

Who is Christianity Explored for?

Christianity Explored is for anyone who wants to investigate Christianity informally with a group of other people. Whether you have previous experience of Church, Christians and the Bible, or none at all, this course is for you. Everyone is welcome – from the most sympathetic Sunday schooler to the convinced atheist. We will respect your background, culture and beliefs. Tell us as little or as much about yourself as you feel comfortable.

What goes on?

Each meeting starts with a meal. Then, after briefly discussing the course material from the week before, there is a talk or DVD on the theme for that week and to close the groups discuss any questions that have arisen. The meeting mormally last around 2 hours but of course, if you’d like, you’re welcome to stick around a bit longer for a coffee to discuss any further issues you might have. And you can ask any question you want, at any time during the course. We’ll probably have between 6 to 10 guests attending the course.

After an introductory week, we look at the following themes:

Jesus – who was he?

Jesus – why did he come?

Jesus – his death

What is grace?

Jesus – his resurrection

What is a Christian?

Why is the course run?

Christians count it a real privilege to explain the Christian message. We don’t have all the answers but believe that we have exciting news to share about Jesus Christ.

We held a service of Believer’s Baptism on Sunday 11 September, followed by tea.  We do not have a baptistry facility at Fountain Primary School and we are grateful to our friends at Gildersome Baptist Church who let us use their premises for this event.

If you would like to find out more about believer’s baptism by immersion, or are interested in being baptised, please contact our minister Steve Wright.

The Ladies had a Weekend away at the Slack Top Centre near Hebden Bridge on 13-15 May. An enjoyable time of fellowship, relaxation and spiritual study was had by all.

As a result of the Ladies Weekend there was a reduced congregation on Sunday 15 May and following a time of informal study and fellowship, led by Steve,  we had a barbecue lunch together outside the church building.

The ladies from the Morley Elderly Action Craft Group have knitted us a full set of cushions to use on Sunday to make the chairs warmer and more comfortable. We are very grateful for their generosity.
