The Chattabox club, for children ages 8 – 11,  restarted on Tuesday 10 May and operated every week in term time up to the summer. The club ran from 3.30pm to 5pm and was held at Fountain Primary School in the annex at the rear of the Foundation Unit. Activities include, craftwork, games, quizzes, singing and Bible stories.

The plan for the Autumn term onwards is to resume the lunch time club in Fountain Primary School for years 5 and 6.

Feb 06

From 25 February to 6 March a team of students from Capernwray College helped us run a range of outreach activities including:

  • Giving out Christian literature in Morley Town Centre and the area surrounding the church.
  • ‘Life of Christ’ Bible Exhibition in the local primary schools with the help of John Hawley from the Open Air Mission. Every child who attended was given a copy of the ‘Jesus Quest’ DVD.
  • After School children’s club at Fountain Primary School.
  • Visits to the various elderly people’s coffee mornings around the town and running a ‘Pensioners Lunch’.
  • Running special events for the YZUP! youth club.
  • The team also helped with services in our own church and at local Methodist Churches.

Feb 01

A team of students from Capernwray College were with us from Friday 26 February to Sunday 7 March and we ran a programme of special activities in the town. This included:

  • John Hawley from the Open Air Mission helped us run the Pilgrim’s Progress Bible Exhibition in Fountain, Victoria, Seven Hills, Asquith and Queenswood Primary Schools.
  • The free distribution of nearly 2000 Day One Calendars on the streets of Morley.
  • Children’s After School Club at Fountain Primary School for ages 6 – 11.
  • A Pensioners Lunch  hosted by the Mayor of Leeds, Councillor Judith Elliott, at the Labour Rooms.
  • Sunday evening Family Night in the Labour Room.
  • 500 leaflets advertising the church posted through doors in the Fountain Street area.
  • The students also helped to run our church services and services at Gildersome and Newlands Methodist churches.

In the last week of the school holidays we ran a Chattabox children’s holiday club at the Wesley Playhouse. Activities included, craftwork, quizzes and Bible stories told by Andrew Devis along with an opportunity to play on the Noah’s Ark play gym.
